The Biological Science program encourages you to explore an array of science courses and receive a strong foundation in the scientific method and the physical world. These courses are designed for hands-on learning with the opportunity to explore deeper than just topics within the classroom, but also projects and internships within and out of the campus. Why Study Here?
Yes, coursework prepares you for transfer to four-year bachelor’s degree programs, in applied life sciences including biology (molecular, marine, ecological, biochemical and beyond), research, and biotechnology, as well as health-related professional fields, such as pharmacy, pre-health and pre-medicine.听 What is unique here, is that we challenge you through project-based hands-on learning, which takes more time than a traditional class, but the experience opens more doors of opportunity!
What’s special about the program at your college? 听Through our research collaborators and priority spending, we have state-of the art equipment and can share large equipment as a consortium member of NH INBRE.听 In the past, we did research on-site with collaborators from UNH-Manchester.听 We also engage in shared services with Dartmouth University, Rivier University and University of Massachusetts-Lowell, being on the NH border.听 If you do well in your classes here at NCC, you can be chosen to represent the CCSNH NH INBRE at one of several summer (iSURF) or yearlong paid research opportunities.听 We also have opportunities to do smaller institution based- projects that are presented at conferences at many locations, even in Europe.

There are no special requirements to enroll in this degree, except the desire to learn and a willingness to apply yourself.听 Your dedication will lead to opportunities that you have not thought of yet, or may not even exist today, but are tomorrow鈥檚 questions!
A System-wide lab fee is included in all laboratory courses whether offered on-line or in-person.听 Students may need to purchase their own safety gear pending class and social climate.

Through guest speakers, NH INBRE and EBSCO grants, students are exposed to more opportunities for training, scholarships, and internships.
NCC Biology students inducted into TriBeta Biology Honor Society and PTK Honor Society receive recognition of excellence and opportunity for growth through extended contacts. All scholarships and opportunities vary from year to year, and must be reviewed at time of interest.
