Mathematics, Associate in Science
As a student majoring in Mathematics, you will develop a strong problem solving foundation that will allow you to transfer to a four-year institution for further study in mathematics or other related STEM fields. In fact, this program is the best for completing those first two years of a STEM bachelor鈥檚 program in fields such as Engineering and Physics. Upon completion of the Mathematics Program, students will able to:
- Demonstrate technical proficiency and effective problem solving ability in completing mathematical processes.
- Apply mathematical concepts to other disciplines including business, economics, social sciences, and natural sciences.
- Communicate mathematics effectively in both oral and written formats using appropriate mathematical language.
- Use appropriate logical reasoning, understand mathematical proof and be capable of justifying results.
In addition, the student will demonstrate competency in the following general education outcomes:
- The student will communicate effectively and fluently; read with comprehension; listen, speak and write competently.
- The student will develop skills in reflection, analysis, logical reasoning, and evaluation to formulate judgments, reach conclusions, and solve problems.
- The student will evaluate and utilize quantitative and qualitative data and apply mathematical and scientific principles and methods.
The student will utilize technology to locate, evaluate, organize, and utilize information accurately and responsibly. - The student will acquire knowledge and skills to function effectively as informed and responsible citizens.
- The student will acquire knowledge and skills that will enable respect for diversity as well as an awareness of global interdependency.
